Check-in

Online

The most convenient way is to check in online via your airline's app or website. If you are only taking hand luggage with you, you can go directly to the security check.

If you have checked baggage, you can use Fast Bag Drop. Print out a baggage label at the machine and then drop off your baggage yourself at the labelled counter.

With or without checked baggage: Please be at the airport in good time. Find out in advance about check-in and boarding times from your airline.

Fast Bag Drop

At BER, passengers can check in independently at the machine and check in their luggage themselves at the counter. Several airlines already offer this service.

Step 1

Please go to the self-check-in machine. There you can print the boarding pass and the baggage label. With some airlines, you must already have checked in online and will receive your baggage label with your boarding pass (see table). A total of 99 check-in machines are available in Terminal 1. 25 kiosks are also in operation in Terminal 2.

Alternatively, for all airlines with Fast Bag Drop departing from T1, you can check in your baggage at check-in counter 511-516. The counter is open from 3:45 am to 9:00 pm.

Fast Bag Drop

Print the baggage label yourself at the machine and then hand it in. This is how it works.

Tutorial
Watch now (YouTube)

This is how the Fast Bag Drop works:

  • You will find information about the terminal and check-in area for your flight in the flight data for the respective flight. You can find this information in the BER App or at flights.berlin-airport.de
  • At the airport, go to your check-in area and then to one of the Fast Bag Drop machines. You can also use all other available machines for Fast Bag Drop; these are located on level U1, in the check-in hall or in the pavilions. Select your airline using the logo on the display and, after entering your flight details, check whether your flight is eligible for Fast Bag Drop.

Notice:

For various reasons (e.g. connecting flights or complex document checks, non-Schengen flight), your flight may not be cleared for Fast Bag Drop. In this case, please use the regular check-in counter in the same check-in area.

  • Check in independently if your airline offers Fast Bag Drop and print out your boarding pass.

Recommendation:

We always recommend checking in online. This way you can upload all the documents required for the flight in advance. You get your boarding pass and can bring it with you digitally or printed out and scan it at the Fast-Bag-Drop-machine to print your baggage label.

  • You can easily attach the baggage label to the handle of your baggage by pressing the adhesive surfaces on the back of the baggage label together. Attach the label to the long side of the bag.
  • Now go to the Fast Bag Drop counter of your flight and check in your baggage. Follow the signage on the ground. When placing your baggage label on the baggage carousel, it should be positioned so that it can be easily scanned by the scanners at the top. Your baggage will be weighed at the baggage carousel. If you have excess baggage, you will have to check it in at the staffed counter of your airline and pay additional fees if necessary.

At the Counter

You are also welcome to check in at the counter on site.

You will find the check-in area in T1 on level E1. There are ten check-in islands with a total of 118 counters. If you are travelling with large baggage, you will need to check it in at one of the two large baggage counters. In T2, there are 16 check-in counters and one large baggage counter on level E0.

You can find information about your check-in counter either on this website in the flight information, in the Berlin Airport App or on the monitors on site.
