80 Years of LOT Polish Airlines in the Capital Region

Published: 11 May 2026, 15:35

LOT Polish Airlines is celebrating 80 years of scheduled flights between Berlin and Warsaw. On May 11, 1946, the Polish airline launched its scheduled flights to the Berlin metropolitan area. The first route connected to Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport and marked the beginning of an air link between the two capitals that remains vital to this day.

Today, LOT Polish Airlines connects BER with the Polish capital up to three times a day. The flight times (morning, noon, and evening) offer business travellers and tourists a high degree of flexibility. Via Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW), the airline also offers attractive connecting options to international destinations in North America and Asia.

Warsaw

The Polish capital boasts a historic Old Town, modern architecture, and a diverse cultural scene. It is one of the most important political and economic centres in Central and Eastern Europe. Thanks to short flight times and excellent transportation links, the city is an attractive destination for city breaks as well as for business trips and onward travel in the region.

Warsaw offers a mix of tradition and modernity: skyscrapers provide a touch of New York. The Old Town enchants visitors with Gothic churches and palaces.
