Happy Anniversary, United Airlines! For 20 years, the airline has been connecting the capital region directly with the vibrant metropolis of New York, giving travellers direct access to one of the most fascinating and dazzling cities in the world. To mark this milestone anniversary, United Airlines and the airport company are celebrating not only two decades of reliable transatlantic service but also all the unforgettable moments that this route has made possible for 1.7 million travellers to date – from the anticipation at the gate and the flight across the Atlantic to the first glimpse of the New York or Berlin skyline.
The year-round connection to New York/Newark is a key part of BER's long-haul network and has been integral to the flight schedule from the capital region since 2005. American Airlines' aircraft have taken off from or landed in the capital region more than 11,000 times. Initially operated by Continental Airlines from Berlin-Tegel, the long-haul route has been run by United Airlines since the two airlines merged in 2010.
The route from Berlin (BER) to Newark/New York Airport is operated by a Boeing B767-400 aircraft. Passengers can choose from four different ticket categories. Economy Class includes lunch, snacks, drinks and in-flight entertainment. Via the Newark/New York (EWR) hub, passengers have access to attractive connecting destinations such as Atlanta and Chicago in the USA or Vancouver in Canada.
