Dutch airline KLM is renewing its fleet. The first A321neo called Swallowtail was put into service today. One of the first flights went to BER, where it was given a ceremonial welcome. KLM will operate the new aircraft once a day on the busy BER – Amsterdam route.
The Swallowtail is the first of four A321neo aircraft that KLM is put into service this year. Three more are to follow by the end of the year. Additional aircraft will follow in the coming years and replace the existing Boeing 737s. The fleet renewal is aimed at saving fuel, reducing CO2 emissions and minimising noise pollution.
KLM flies up to eight times a day from BER to Amsterdam. The route is of interest to business travellers, city tourists as well as long-distance travellers. Travellers have connections to 155 destinations worldwide via the Amsterdam Schiphol hub.
