Tenerife – Isle of the Blessed

Published: 18 January 2024, 15:00

The Canary Islands were known as the “Isles of the Blessed” in ancient times – and it’s not hard to see why: whether sunbathing and relaxing on the beach, connecting with nature on hikes or visiting dreamy mountain villages – all of this is possible on Tenerife. Tenerife is the largest, highest and most diverse of the Canary Islands. It offers a varied landscape of beaches, cliffs and bays thanks to its 340-kilometres of coastline. Dense laurel and pine forests can be found in the centre of the island.

Tenerife is known as the island of eternal spring with mild temperatures all year round. The summers are not too hot and the winters are pleasantly mild. The unique Pico del Teide characterises the island, which at almost 4,000 metres is the highest mountain in Spain. There is interesting plant and animal life to discover in the surrounding national park. Tenerife is never boring: activities such as jeep safaris, wine tours or stargazing are just a small part of what the island has to offer.

Tenerife – what there is to discover

Just the place for experiences: from kitesurfing to diving

Relax and leave your worries behind: no problem in Tenerife. But Tenerife offers much more than beautiful beaches and wellness. If it’s exercise you want, there is plenty to experience and discover on the Canary Island. The volcanic island offers a well-developed network of hiking trails of more than 1,500 kilometres. Water sports such as diving, snorkelling and surfing are also very important in the Canary Islands. A boat trip along the coast is an absolute must – you might even spot whales and dolphins along the way. Those looking for a little more adventure can discover the island from the air with a paragliding trip.
