From Berlin to BER Airport several times per hour

FEX, S-Bahn, Regional & Intercity trains

Airport Express (FEX) and regional trains run several times an hour between Berlin Central Station and station "Flughafen BER" (BER Airport). The S9 and S45 commuter trains (S-Bahn) run every 20 minutes to Berlin city centre. Furthermore, an Intercity BER T1-2 connects Rostock and Dresden/Chemnitz several times a day.

Express buses

The express buses X7 and X71 travel frequently between underground station Rudow (terminus U7) and BER Airport. The journey takes approx. 14 minutes. Furthermore, the express bus BER2 (Potsdam Central Station - BER Airport) runs several times a day. Further lines supplement the public transport offer.

The airport station "Flughafen BER" (BER Airport) is located directly under Terminal 1 on level U2. From here you can reach Terminal 1 check-in hall in just a few minutes. If you are flying from Terminal 2, please proceed to arrivals level E0 and follow the signs to Terminal 2 from there.

Airport Express (FEX)

  • Route: Berlin (Hauptbahnhof - Gesundbrunnen - Ostkreuz) - BER Airport
  • Frequency: every 30 minutes between Berlin Central Station and BER
  • Onwards from BER Airport as RB24: Blankenfelde - Dahlewitz - Rangsdorf - Dabendorf - Zossen - Wünsdorf/Waldstadt
  • Frequency: every hour
  • Onwards from BER Airport as RB32: Birkengrund - Ludwigsfelde
  • Frequency: every hour
  • Service notice Airport Express (FEX): During off-peak hours, the FEX line may be diverted towards Berlin-Lichtenberg and/or Schönefeld. Individual stops in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen, Berlin Central Station or Berlin-Ostkreuz may be omitted as a result. Passengers are advised to use regional or S-Bahn trains from BER as an alternative.

RE8

  • Route: Wismar - Wittenberge - Neustadt (Dosse) - Nauen - Berlin (Spandau - Zoologischer Garten - Hauptbahnhof  - Friedrichstraße - Alexanderplatz - Ostbahnhof - Ostkreuz) - BER Airport
  • Frequency: every hour (24h operation between Berlin-City and BER)
  • Service notice RE8: From 8 to 14 September 2025, there will be partial cancellations or diversions on the RE8 line towards Schönefeld Station (instead of BER Airport). Schönefeld station and BER Airport are connected by the S9 and S45 lines.

RB22

  • Route: Potsdam (Griebnitzsee - Hauptbahnhof - Park Sanssouci - Golm) - Saarmund - Ludwigsfelde - BER Airport - Königs Wusterhausen
  • Frequency: every hour
  • Service notice RB22: From 12 September (9 p.m.) to 26 September (9 p.m.), the RE22 regional train service between BER Airport and Königs Wusterhausen will be cancelled. There will also be occasional cancellations between Golm Station and Potsdam Central Station. Passengers are advised to use alternative regional or S-Bahn trains from BER.

RB23

  • Route: Potsdam (Golm - Hauptbahnhof) - Berlin (Wannsee - Charlottenburg - Zoologischer Garten - Hauptbahnhof - Friedrichstraße - Alexanderplatz - Ostbahnhof - Ostkreuz) - BER Airport
  • Frequency: every hour
  • Service notice RB23: Due to construction and maintenance work carried out by the network operator, diversions and partial cancellations may occur on the RB23 line during off-peak hours. Passengers are advised to use the S-Bahn from BER as an alternative.

RB24 Nord

  • (Eberswalde Hauptbahnhof - Melchow - Biesenthal - Rüdnitz - Bernau - Berlin-Hohenschöhnhausen) - Berlin (Lichtenberg - Ostkreuz - Schöneweide) - S Schönefeld Bhf. (Transfer to BER Airport via S-Bahn S9/45)
  • Frequency: every hour

RB24 Süd

  • Wündsdorf-Waldstadt - BER Airport
  • Frequency: every hour. 
  • Service notice RB24: Until 13 December, regional train RE24 Süd between BER Airport and Wünsdorf-Waldstadt will not be running. A rail replacement bus service has been set up from Waßmannsdorf S-Bahn station. Waßmannsdorf S-Bahn station and BER are directly connected via lines S9 and S45.

RB32

  • Oranienburg - Berlin (Hohenschönhausen - Lichtenberg - Ostkreuz - Schöneweide) - S Schönefeld Bhf. (Transfer to BER Airport via S-Bahn S9/45)
  • Frequency: every hour
  • Service notice RB32: Between 24 September and 13 December, the RB32 regional train service between BER Airport and Ludwigsfelde will be cancelled. A rail replacement bus service will operate from Waßmannsdorf S-Bahn station. Waßmannsdorf S-Bahn station is directly connected to BER via lines S9 and S45.

S45

  • Route: Berlin (Südkreuz - Schöneweide - Adlershof) - S Schönefeld Bhf. - BER Airport
  • Frequency: every 20 minutes

Service notice S9/S45

Between 19 September (10 p.m.) and 22 September (1.30 a.m.), and again between 26 September (10 p.m.) and 29 September (1.30 a.m.), the S9/S45 will not be running between Schöneweide and Treptower Park, or between Schöneweide and Neukölln. A rail replacement bus service will be provided.

The express buses depart from bus stops A 2 resp. A 6-7. These can be found on the arrivals level (E0) of Terminal 1; directly in front of the building.

X7 

  • Route: U Rudow - BER Airport (Bus stops A 6-7)
  • Frequency: every 5-10 minutes

X71

  • Route: U Alt-Mariendorf - Johannisthaler Chaussee - U Rudow - BER Airport (Bus stops A 6-7)

BER2 (subject to a surcharge)

  • Route: Potsdam Central station - BER Airport (Bus stop A 2)
  • Frequency: 16 times a day
  • Travel time: approx. 55 minutes

Intercity Chemnitz – BER Airport – Rostock

  • Route: Chemnitz - Dresden – Elsterwerda – BER Airport – Berlin Südkreuz – Berlin Hauptbahnhof – Oranienburg – Rostock
  • Frequency: several times daily
  • Note: between Berlin central station and Elsterwerda , the IC can also be used with VBB tickets

If you arrive by bus, which only goes to "S Schönefeld Bhf.", please change there to the S-Bahn lines S9/45 to get to BER Airport. Buses travelling to BER Airport arrive on the arrivals level (E0) in front of Terminal 1.

  • Frequency: every 30 minutes
  • Note: On weekends the N7 only runs between U Rudow and BER.

N7X

  • Route: S+U Zoologischer Garten - U Berliner Straße - U Alt-Tempelhof - S Schönefeld Bhf. - BER Airport (Bus stops A 6-7)
  • Frequency: every 15 minutes
  • The N7X supplements the early morning service on weekdays as an express bus from S+U Zoologischer Garten via Bundesallee, Schöneberg and Tempelhof to BER Airport.

Frequently asked questions

The public transport system in Berlin and Brandenburg includes regional trains, suburban trains (S-Bahn), underground trains (U-Bahn), trams and buses. All means of transport are closely networked and enable easy and flexible mobility.

One ticket is valid for all means of transport in the respective fare zone. The following apps provide information on timetables, connections and ticket purchases for the entire public transport network in the ABC tariff zone:

 

The stop for the rail replacement buses is located in Airport City, directly at Willy-Brandt-Platz.

BER Airport is well connected to the public transport network. Several S-Bahn and regional train connections will take you quickly to the city centre, in addition, express buses run directly to the airport.

S-Bahn:

  • S9 – towards the city centre (Alexanderplatz, Hauptbahnhof)
  • S45 – towards the southwest (Südkreuz)

Regional trains::

  • FEX (Flughafen-Express) – express connection via Gesundbrunnen to Hauptbahnhof
  • RE7 / RB14 – direct connection to Hauptbahnhof in approx. 30 minutes

Express buses::

  • X7 / X71 – direct connection to Rudow S-Bahn station with a connection to the U7 underground line (U-Bahn) in the direction of Spandau.

In addition, other bus lines run from BER Airport in various directions within Berlin and Brandenburg.

  • BER Airport is in tariff zone C.
  • For trips to the centre of Berlin, you need an ABC ticket.
  • You can buy tickets from the vending machines in the terminals and stations or using the VBB, BVG or S-Bahn app.
  • Important: Paper tickets bought from vending machines must be validated before you start your journey.

The tariff system in Berlin and the surrounding area is divided into three zones:

  • A: Berlin city centre up to and including the S-Bahn ring
  • B: Area outside the S-Bahn ring up to the city limits
  • C: Berlin's surrounding area (approx. 15 km around Berlin), including BER Airport and Potsdam

For example, a ABC ticket is required for trips from BER Airport to Berlin city centre.

Important: Paper tickets purchased from ticket machines must be validated before departure.
