Public buses and trains of the local public transport system, such as the Airport Express (FEX), regional trains, and express buses, run several times per hour from Berlin to BER Airport. The train station is located in Terminal 1 on level U2. The local bus stops A1–A8 are situated on the arrivals level of Terminal 1. All public transport bus and train routes in detail

With the change in the railway timetable on 14 December 2025, the connection to BER Airport has changed. You can find current travel information at:  www.vbb.de/

The airport station ‘Flughafen BER‘ (BER Airport) is located directly under Terminal 1 on level U2. From here you can reach Terminal 1 check-in hall in just a few minutes. If you are flying from Terminal 2, please proceed to arrivals level E0 and follow the signs to Terminal 2 from there.

Airport Express (FEX)

  • Route: Berlin (Hauptbahnhof - Potsdamer Platz - Südkreuz) - BER Airport 
  • Frequency: 24/7, from 4 a.m. to 1 a.m. every 15 minutes
  • Travel time:
    • Hauptbahnhof - BER: approx. 23 minutes
    • Potsdamer Platz - BER: approx. 19 minutes
    • Südkreuz - BER: approx. 14 minutes 
  • Note: Until 13 June 2026, the FEX will run at night via the so-called Stadtbahn (including Ostkreuz, Friedrichstraße) to Berlin Central Station.

RE20

  • Route: Berlin (Hauptbahnhof - Potsdamer Platz - Südkreuz) - BER Airport - Lübbenau (- Cottbus Hbf.) 
  • Frequency: hourly (from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m.)  
  • Travel time:
    • Hauptbahnhof - BER: approx. 23 minutes
    • Potsdamer Platz - BER: approx. 19 minutes
    • Südkreuz - BER: approx. 14 minutes 
    • Lübbenau - BER: approx. 50 minutes

RB22

  • Route: Potsdam (Griebnitzsee - Hauptbahnhof - Park Sanssouci - Golm) - Saarmund - Ludwigsfelde-Struveshof - BER Airport - Königs Wusterhausen
  • Frequency: hourly (from 4 a.m. to 0.30 a.m.)

RB24

  • Route: Eberswalde - Bernau - Berlin Ostkreuz - Berlin Schöneweide - BER Airport - Blankenfelde (- Wünsdorf Waldstadt)
  • Frequency: hourly (from 3.30 a.m. to 10 p.m.)

  • Oranienburg - Berlin Ostkreuz - Berlin Schöneweide- BER Airport - Ludwigsfelde
  • Frequency: hourly (from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m.)

  • Route: Berlin (Frohnau - Ostkreuz - Schöneweide - Adlershof) - Schönefeld (bei Berlin) Bhf. - BER Airport

The express buses depart from bus stops A 2 resp. A 6-7. These can be found on the arrivals level (E0) of Terminal 1; directly in front of the building.

X7 

  • Route: U Rudow - Lieselotte-Berger-Str. - BER Airport (Bus stops A 6-7)
  • Frequency: every 5-10 minutes

X71 

  • Route: U Alt-Mariendorf - Johannisthaler Chaussee - U Rudow - Lieselotte-Berger-Str. - BER Airport (Bus stops A 6-7)

BER2 (subject to surcharge)

Night buses depart from bus stops A 4 and A 6-7. These are located on the arrivals level (E0) of Terminal 1, directly in front of the building.

N7

  • Route: U Rathaus Spandau - U Hermannplatz - U Rudow - S Schönefeld (bei Berlin) Bhf. - BER airport (Bus stops A 6-7)
  • Frequency: every 30 minutes
  • Please note: At weekends, the N7 only runs between U Rudow and BER Airport. (From Rudow, the U7 underground line runs continuously throughout the night.)

N7X

  • Route: S+U Zoologischer Garten - U Berliner Straße - U Alt-Tempelhof - S Schönefeld (bei Berlin) Bhf. - BER Airport (Bus stops A 6-7)
  • Frequency: every 15 minutes
  • The N7X supplements the service on weekdays during rush hour as an express bus from S+U Zoologischer Garten via Bundesallee, Schöneberg and Tempelhof to BER Airport T1-2 in this direction only.

N36 

  • Route: Königs Wusterhausen -  Wildau - BER Airport (Bus stop A 4)

Frequently asked questions

The public transport system in Berlin and Brandenburg includes regional trains, suburban trains (S-Bahn), underground trains (U-Bahn), trams and buses. All means of transport are closely networked and enable easy and flexible mobility.

One ticket is valid for all means of transport in the respective fare zone. The following apps provide information on timetables, connections and ticket purchases for the entire public transport network in the ABC tariff zone:

 

The stop for the rail replacement buses is located in Airport City, directly at Willy-Brandt-Platz.

BER Airport is well connected to the public transport network. Several S-Bahn and regional train connections will take you quickly to the city centre, in addition to express buses running directly to the airport.

In addition, other bus lines run from BER Airport to various destinations within Berlin and Brandenburg.

  • BER Airport is in tariff zone C.
  • For trips to the centre of Berlin, you need an ABC ticket.
  • You can buy tickets from the vending machines in the terminals and stations or using the VBB, BVG or S-Bahn app.
  • Important: Paper tickets bought from vending machines must be validated before you start your journey.

The tariff system in Berlin and the surrounding area is divided into three zones:

  • A: Berlin city centre up to and including the S-Bahn ring
  • B: Area outside the S-Bahn ring up to the city limits
  • C: Berlin's surrounding area (approx. 15 km around Berlin), including BER Airport and Potsdam

For example, a ABC ticket is required for trips from BER Airport to Berlin city centre.

Important: Paper tickets purchased from ticket machines must be validated before departure.
