BER Airport has a new long-haul route. With immediate effect, Air Canada, Canada’s largest airline, is operating direct flights between the capital region and Montréal. The new route will be served three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Via the Montréal hub, travellers also have access to numerous connecting flights within Canada, as well as to other destinations in North America and beyond. The new route therefore not only opens up additional travel opportunities for people in the region but also strengthens the capital region’s position as an attractive destination for visitors from Canada and North America.
This summer, the route will be operated until 6 September. Flights for summer 2027 are already available to book. During the coming summer season, Air Canada will operate the route up to four times a week from early June to mid-October.
Whilst today’s inaugural flight took off from BER bound for Canada on a Boeing 787-8, modern Airbus A321 XLR (Extra Long Range) aircraft will come into service from 19 July. This new aircraft type will then be deployed for the first time on a regular long-haul route to Germany. The A321 XLR has 182 seats, 14 of which are in Business Class and 168 in Economy Class. The flight time from BER is 8 hours and 40 minutes; the return journey is one hour faster.
