Joulupukki, the Finnish Santa Claus, lives at a secret location on the Arctic Circle and has an office in the Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi. For official appointments, he travels with Finnair, his official airline, to spread Christmas joy worldwide. Today he landed safely at BER, where he was greeted with joy by Michael Halberstadt, Chief Human Resources Officer of the airport company, and 15 excited primary school children.
Joulupukki will be spreading the magic of the festive season in Berlin until 29 November. His visit is part of the annual Santa Claus tour, during which he promotes wintery Finland as an ambassador for his home country. Finnair has been flying from the Berlin area since 1983. In the winter flight schedule, the airline connects BER with Helsinki three times a day, from where Rovaniemi can be easily reached several times a day.
Young and old Christmas fans who also want to meet Santa Claus will have the opportunity to do so at Bikini Berlin on 28 November between 12 noon and 8 pm.
