Futuristic, sophisticated and rich in unique attractions: This is Dubai, the city of superlatives in the heart of the desert. The 828-metre-high Burj Khalifa, located on the Persian Gulf in the capital of the Arab emirate of the same name, is the tallest building in the world. The dynamic desert metropolis is constantly being expanded to include new spectacular skyscrapers and artificial islands. The island of Palm Jumeirah, which is built in the shape of a huge palm tree, is famous around the world. Glamorous shopping malls like the Dubai Mall and traditional oriental markets promise a unique shopping experience. With a coastline of over 60 kilometres, Dubai offers well-kept sandy beaches, a variety of water sports and azure sea water for a relaxing beach holiday.
