How accessible are the online services of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg (FBB)?

What does accessibility mean?

Accessibility means:
All people can use the website and app of the airport well.
Also people with disabilities.

Who is responsible?

Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg (FBB) wants all people to use the online services well.
There are laws and rules for this:

• Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG)
• BITV 2.0
• WCAG 2.0 and 3.0 (international rules for accessibility)

These services are meant:

• Website for travelers: https://ber.berlin-airport.de
• Wi-Fi portal: wifi-login.berlin-airport.de
• Website in the terminal: onsite.berlin-airport.de
• BER App (version 3.14)

How accessible are the services?

The services are partially accessible.
This means:
Some things work well.
Other things need to be improved.

What is not yet accessible?

• Images sometimes have no alternative text.
• Some buttons do not work well with screen readers.
• The navigation is technically not well structured.
• The flight search is hard to use with assistive tools.
• The flight search results are not well marked.
• The structure on some pages is not clear.
• The colors sometimes have too little contrast.
• PDF files are not accessible.
• Proper names in multiple languages are not well marked.

What will be improved?

The website for travelers is being revised.
Many problems should be fixed by the end of 2025.
After that, everything will be checked again.

• FBB checked itself.
• An external company (Materna and Digitas) also checked.
• The State Office for Social Affairs and Supply Brandenburg also checked.
