Shortly before, BER was also certified by Deutsches Hygienezertifikat. Deutsches Hygienezertifikat (DHZ) was founded in January 2008 and is an independent consulting and testing company in Germany that awards companies for perfect hygiene and cleanliness. Companies are certified by trained specialists based on state-specified requirements.
Right from the start, numerous measures were implemented at Berlin Brandenburg Willy Brandt Airport to minimise the risk of infection for passengers and employees during the corona pandemic. These certificates confirm the high health and hygiene standards.
For both certificates, the equipment in the terminals and the processes from check-in to baggage claim were checked according to strict specifications. These include equipping the terminals with plexiglass panes, distance markings or disinfectant dispensers as well as communication with passengers as well as microbiological swabs from surfaces in the check-in areas, gate areas or elevators by Deutsches Hygienezertifikat.
