Christmas time begins at BER

Whether it’s a holiday or a visit to family: Christmas time is travel time. The airport company is expecting a slight increase in holiday travel at BER Airport during the Christmas holidays in Berlin and Brandenburg. Around 600,000 passengers are expected to take off and land at BER between 22 December 2022 and 3 January 2023.

We have summarised a few important tips for you to ensure that the start of the holidays goes as smoothly as possible:

You can reserve a slot for security control in Terminal 1 via BER Runway from 72 hours before departure. You can also reach Terminal 2 via Terminal 1:

Save time by using the self-service check-in or self-service bag drop. Many airlines already offer this service. Lufthansa provides the option of checking in the evening before. easyJet also offers an evening bag drop for passengers who have already checked in:

We generally recommend checking in online at home and arriving at your respective terminal two-and-a-half hours before departure and proceed to security control immediately after checking in.

When packing, be aware of the guidelines of the Federal Police and airlines regarding prohibited and dangerous items:

Keep travel documents, proof of vaccination, test or recovery (“3G”), if necessary, and entry documents for the respective destination country close at hand:

Still no Christmas presents? No problem – there are plenty of opportunities at the airport’s shops for any last-minute Christmas shopping. Restaurants, bars and cafés in the terminals are open at the usual times. The Rewe supermarket in the public area of Terminal 1 is open from 5 am until midnight if you need to buy any missing ingredients for your festive meal or for breakfast after a late return.
