Increased travel during the summer holidays

The airport company expects up to three million passengers to take off or land again at BER during the summer holidays in Berlin and Brandenburg. Many guests also visit the capital region. A total of 52 airlines fly from BER to 127 destinations in 45 countries during the holiday season.

The airport company recommends that all passengers arrive at their respective terminal two-and-a-half hours before departure. Arriving passengers can already find information about offers in the region at the airport.

Passengers can also obtain service information and additional travel information via Twitter and via the Berlin Airport App.

The most important tips for departing & arriving passengers

Check-in and baggage:

  • Online: We advise our passengers to check-in online at home if their airlines offer this. Please check with your airline about this.
  • At machines: Passengers at BER can check in themselves and their baggage independently. Several airlines offer this service, either for baggage drop-off only or additionally for printing their boarding pass. It is possible to use the machines from 3:30 am on the respective day of departure.
  • The evening before: Lufthansa and Eurowings provide the option of checking in the evening before.  easyJet passengers can use the bag drop the evening beforehand and check in their baggage for flights the next morning after checking in online.
  • At the counter: You are also welcome to check in at the counter. Please have travel documents, proof of vaccination, recovery or test (“3G”), if applicable, and entry documents for the respective destination country ready.
  • After checking in at the terminal: Please go directly to security control. The control points with the shortest waiting times are shown on the display panels, as well as in the app and on the airport’s website.

Preparing for security control:

  • At home: When packing, be aware of the guidelines of the Federal Police and airlines regarding prohibited and dangerous items.
  • Liquids: Please place liquids in a transparent, resealable, 1-litre bag according to regulations. A maximum of 10 x 100 ml and only one bag per passenger is allowed.
  • Electronic devices: Powerbanks and e-cigarettes are only allowed in cabin baggage.
  • Repacking in the terminal: There are preparation tables in front of the security controls in Terminal 1 where passengers can check their cabin baggage once again. Electronic devices, such as laptops and tablets, and any liquid bags must be removed from cabin baggage and presented separately at the control point.
  • Without checked baggage: Passengers with boarding passes and only cabin baggage can go directly to security control.
