Preveza and
the Epirus region

Kalimera! The region around Preveza in Epirus is considered one of the most beautiful areas in north-western Greece. The coastal town lies at the mouth of the Ambracian Gulf on the Ionian Sea. Preveza delights visitors with its Venetian architecture and cosy tavernas serving fresh fish and other Greek delicacies. The endless beaches stretching along the turquoise blue sea are an absolute highlight. The idyllic Ionian Islands are within easy reach: the holiday island of Lefkada is easily accessible via a bridge from Preveza. The nearby Acheron River is ideal for hiking, kayaking and swimming on hot days. With its impressive mountain landscape, Epirus is a particularly attractive destination for hiking enthusiasts in spring and autumn.

Greek mythology and antiquity

The Epirus region is rich in mythical places and ancient sites that are deeply rooted in Greek history. One of the most famous places of antiquity is Dodona, home to the famous and oldest oracle in Greece, which answered the gods through the rustling of oak leaves. Another mythical place is the Acheron Gorge, whose river was considered one of the rivers of the underworld in Greek mythology. A visit to the ruins of Kassopi and Nikopolis offers a journey back in time to ancient times. There, visitors can explore fascinating relics such as a Roman theatre, thermal baths and a stadium. In the impressive Zalongo Mountains, you can hike to the monument of the same name commemorating the Greek struggle for liberation.
